Something Or Nothing - Uriah Heep - Wonderworld (Cassette, Album)

It was a garden gnome. From travellersintime. Each band member sent in an entire set of clothing to be covered in a metallic material used to present the work. During an interview with Chris Tetley , Mick Box was quoted on that particular subject, "They wanted to make each of us a statue.

He followed up with commenting, "All they managed to do was gray up the hair and my jeans were covered in concrete stuff. Location: Perth Western Australia. IMO the sound is superb. Gary Thain brilliant as usual. A decade or 4 down the track provides a different perspective. As some have pointed out something does seem missing but what that is seems a bit hard to work out. Maybe not quite as good as the earlier albums but still a damn good album.

Many have stated that David Byron's vocals on the album are not up to scratch. I don't hear it that way. I think that his vocals are outstanding. As good an opener as any on previous albums. Am I right in saying that there is no guitar on this track? Kingsley Fats , Feb 14, ILoveMyDogs , Rufus rag and mark winstanley like this.

Location: Undisclosed. John Fell , Feb 14, Around this time he released his third solo LP, Free Spirit In Hensley joined Blackfoot , a hard rock Florida-based band. With them, he recorded two albums 's Siogo and 's Vertical Smiles. Although the group achieved some success, Hensley left after Bron informed him of Heep vocalist David Byron's death in In , From Time To Time , a collection of lost recordings, was released featuring rare songs recorded by Hensley between and , as well as some early versions of Heep's classic songs, played by Hensley and his roommates at that time, namely guitarist Paul Kossoff and drummer Simon Kirke both of Free.

In , Hensley's musical activities began to increase, besides his work with St Louis Music. Hensley was joined by former Uriah Heep singer John Lawton , their first public collaboration since the latter's departure from Uriah Heep in With them were Paul Newton the band's original bassist and two members of Lawton's band, Reuben Kane on lead guitar and Justin Shefford on drums. They played a set of old Uriah Heep classics and some of Hensley's solo songs, and the concert was recorded for a CD release, followed by a tour in Europe culminating with a concert in Hamburg, Germany, featuring a full orchestra and a new rendition of Heep's old song "Salisbury".

Running Blind , his first effort in 21 years, was released worldwide in and followed by a world tour with his band called "Free Spirit", that included Dave Kilminster guitar , Andy Pyle bass and Pete Riley drums. Featuring a number of special guests, the rock opera Blood on the Highway was released in May The story portrays the rise and fall of a rock'n'roll star.

Trouble , an album of 10 new songs recorded with a revised Live Fire line-up was released, again by Cherry Red, in September the same year. A quick look at the discography shows the amazing recorded output, solo and with Live Fire, that followed and in Ken recorded a new solo album with Richard Evans and Dean Brodrick which features a totally different view of Ken, including new songs amongst the semi-symphonic, progressive treatment of some of his best-known classics.

Or Hensley. There is no flow to this album at all. Yes I really like it. Kingsley Fats , Feb 19, We Got We Starts with what sounds like clavinet which takes a little bit of adjusting to.

Anyhow, I actually quite like the song, although it is definitely a different sounding track for me. Yes again. Location: UK. I Wont Mind has a really strong chorus and Box is very prominent on this one, so yeah I like it. Rufus rag , Feb 19, ILoveMyDogs likes this. But I guess I start to feel a certain fatigue, too.

Still a lot of Heep catalogue to come!!! Well, most fans of the band would probably agree that musically the best records were already released by now RTF included here. At least quite a few interesting changes in style and line-up will be coming up soon resulting in many more records to discuss and for me to learn about.

David Byron does turn in an interesting melody, but again, he sounds like he has a cold. The guitar solos aren't enough to elevate I Won't Mind to other level. 1. Uriah Heep Live in is one of my all-time personal favorite Live albums by any band. It certainly made my Top Ten list of "The Best of the Best Live Albums" listmania list. If you are not familiar with the music and are looking for a "music review", see other reviews for the older single disc $ version/5().
  2. Wonderworld continues in the vein of Sweet Freedom, trying to bring Uriah Heep's appeal to a wider level while still retaining the grandiose trademark elements (the organ-guitar attack, David Byron's operatic shriek) that got them noticed. The result is an album that is solid but not as inspired as Look at Yourself or Demons and halfcelltitegodfeperarinlelasag.xyzinfo hard rock quotient is a little stronger on this album.
